Estonia Climb 5 Places in FIFA Rankings - Top of the Baltics Again
Estonia are on the rise.
In the latest FIFA World Rankings released today - 8th October 2026 - Estonia have jumped 5 places to 122nd in the world.
It's the biggest climb of any Baltic nation this window.
Where Estonia sit:

• 120 - Togo
• 121 - North Korea
• 122 - ESTONIA (+5)
• 123 - Namibia
• 124 - Guinea Bissau
That puts Estonia back where they belong - top of the Baltic nations.
Baltic Nations - October 2026:
• 122 - Estonia - UP 5
• 143 - Latvia - DOWN 6
• 148 - Lithuania - UP 1
A 21-place gap to Latvia is the biggest we have had in years. Latvia dropping 6 places after their poor Nations League window helps, but this is earned by Estonia.
Why the jump? The September-October window: the 1-1 draw with Iceland and the narrow win setup. Those results, plus points from the earlier Nations League C campaign, have finally fed through to the ranking.
It's exactly what Maksim Paskotši talked about on our podcast this week - "We all play in good clubs now." That experience is showing. When your spine is Hein in the Bundesliga, Mets and Paskotši starting in top divisions, you pick up points that move you up the FIFA list.
Top 100 is now only 22 places away.
Co-Founder
My name is Reece and I am the co-founder of the Estonian Football Podcast, a UK-based platform dedicated to bringing Estonian football to a wider English-speaking audience.
Founded alongside my brother Nate during the 2021 lockdown, EFP grew out of a shared passion for football and a desire to give Estonian football the international coverage and recognition it deserves. Since then, I’ve helped develop the platform into a growing media outlet covering the Premium Liiga, the Estonian national team, transfers, emerging talents and Estonians playing abroad.
As part of the EFP team, I contribute to podcast production, football analysis, news coverage and social media content, helping make Estonian football more accessible to fans around the world. From breaking down the latest league action to following the progress of Estonia’s next generation of players, my focus is on telling the stories that deserve a bigger audience.
My long term ambition is to establish EFP as the number one destination for Estonian football in English, connecting international fans with the clubs, players and stories that make Estonian football unique.
For me, EFP is about more than a podcast. It’s about building a platform, growing an international community and helping Estonian football reach the audience it deserves.
