Harju Snatch Late Win to Leave Kalju Frustrated
Harju JK Laagri pulled off a major 1–0 away victory over Nõmme Kalju, with substitute Kaspar Rõõmussaar striking late to secure a club record points total in the Premium Liiga.
Kalju created the better chances for much of the game, hitting the woodwork twice, but were unable to find a way past Harju goalkeeper Jan Martti Vainula. He produced several important saves, including a superb stop to tip Nikita Ivanov’s effort onto the crossbar.
Despite registering 18 shots and making attacking changes after the break, Kalju could not turn their pressure into a goal. Their frustration was compounded in the 88th minute, when Rõõmussaar’s effort took a deflection off Rommi Sihi and found the net.
The victory takes Harju to 38 points, surpassing their previous best Premium Liiga tally of 36, achieved last season. They are now ten points clear of ninth place and can set their sights higher up the table.
For Kalju, the defeat is a costly blow in the race for European qualification. They remain fourth, just one point behind Paide, but Tammeka are only three points back and continuing to push.
